Baths

Here’s some information to consider when deciding from the range of available baths. Firstly, consider the size of the bath you would like. Do you want the bath to be large enough to accomodate one or two people?

What is the main purpose of the bath you are installing?

If you are using the bath for long and theraputic baths, then a deep bathtub is a good thing. Deep bathtubs may not be suitable for small children, the elderly or disabled people. If you are elderly it is obviously important that your bath, along with the entire bathroom is a safe environment with handrails correctly installed in the right places.

The colour of the bath is also a factor, if you are buying a stock bathtub, limited selections of styles will be available for baths that are not cream or white.

The installation of a bath is mostly considered a large project. Typically a bath would be changed as a part of a full bathroom renovation, the only exception being a bathtub replacement of the exact same size.

Large baths require more water to fill will therefore require a larger hot water heater. As a guide you can figure that a bath will take about 60-70% hot water. So if a bath has 300L capacity, then it will completely empty a 180L hot water system. Be sure to factor this in to any plans you have to upgrade or install your bathtub.
